Will your creatine make me bloated?
Accordion Plus Icon

Bloating is usually caused by taking too much at once or by low-quality creatine that doesn’t dissolve well. Our creatine monohydrate is micronized and dosed at 3–5 g per serving, so most people never experience it. If you’re sensitive, take it with a full glass of water alongside food.

Are your products third-party tested?
Accordion Plus Icon

Yes. Every batch is tested by an independent lab for purity, potency, and heavy metals, and our products are manufactured in a Health Canada–licensed GMP facility.

Where do you get your creatine?
Accordion Plus Icon

We source our Creatine from Japan, because it’s 99.98% pure, incredibly high quality and has zero fillers.

How long until I see results?
Accordion Plus Icon

Most people notice improved strength and training output within 2–4 weeks of daily use. Creatine works by saturating your muscles over time, so consistency matters more than timing — take it every day, including rest days.

Are your products vegan?
Accordion Plus Icon

Yes. Creatine monohydrate is synthetically produced, not animal-derived, and our gummies use pectin instead of gelatin. All Iron & Ivy products are vegan-friendly and free from artificial dyes.

How much should I take per day?
Accordion Plus Icon

3–5 g daily is the clinically studied dose — that’s 3-5 gummies or one scoop of powder. You don’t need to load; just take it consistently at any time of day.

Can I get a discount?

Yes — subscribe and save 15% on every order, or join our email list for 10% off your first purchase. We also offer bundles where you can save a bunch and stock up for the long winter ahead.

Product questions

Gummies vs. powder — which should I choose?
Accordion Plus Icon

Both deliver the same effective dose, so it comes down to preference. Gummies are tasty, convenient, and mix-free, making them easy to build into a daily routine and ideal for on-the-go or anyone who dislikes the texture of powder. Powder, meanwhile, is more economical per serving and stacks easily into your existing routine.

Why pair creatine with electrolytes?
Accordion Plus Icon

There’s a real reason these two belong together. Creatine can’t get into your muscle cells on its own. It needs a specific transporter to carry it across the cell wall, and that transporter runs on electrolytes. Without sodium and chloride, there’s no delivery. Creatine also pulls water into the muscle, where sodium, potassium, and magnesium keep your hydration and fluid balance in check. That matters most when you’re sweating through a session. Put them together and you support uptake and hydration in a single scoop.

Do I need to "load" creatine, or can I just take one serving a day?
Accordion Plus Icon

No, loading isn’t required. A single daily serving saturates your muscles over 3-4 weeks. Loading just gets you there faster.

When and how should I take it?
Accordion Plus Icon

Consistency matters more than timing. Taking creatine every day keeps your muscle cells saturated, and that steady saturation is what actually drives the benefits — so the best time to take it is whenever you’ll actually remember to. That said, emerging research points to a small edge in taking creatine after your workout, paired with a meal that includes carbohydrates and protein. Both help raise insulin, which supports how efficiently your muscles pull in and store creatine.

Sciencey questions

How does creatine actually work?
Accordion Plus Icon

Your muscles run on a molecule called ATP for short, explosive bursts of effort — lifting, sprinting, jumping. ATP runs out fast, and creatine is what helps you regenerate it. Stored in muscle as phosphocreatine, creatine donates a phosphate to rapidly rebuild ATP, so you can keep producing force during high-intensity work. Supplementing raises the amount of creatine your muscles hold, which supports high-intensity exercise capacity and gains in lean mass during training. It’s the same active compound whether you take it as a gummy, powder, or with electrolytes.

Why creatine monohydrate instead of the "advanced" forms?
Accordion Plus Icon

Creatine monohydrate is the most studied form of creatine, with decades of research behind its effectiveness, safety, and absorption. Newer or “advanced” forms — HCl, buffered, esters, and others — are often marketed as superior, but reviews of the evidence have not shown them to work better than monohydrate, and they typically cost more. We use monohydrate because it’s the form the science actually supports.

Will creatine make me gain weight or hold water?
Accordion Plus Icon

You may see a small increase on the scale early on, and it isn’t fat. Creatine draws a bit of extra water into your muscle cells, which can show up as a few pounds in the first weeks. This is a normal, well-documented effect and it’s intramuscular water — inside the muscle, not the bloating “puffiness” people worry about. Over time, any additional weight is more likely to reflect gains in lean muscle from your training. If you’d rather minimize the early water shift, skipping the loading phase and taking a steady 3–5 g daily makes it more gradual.

Is creatine safe to take long term? What about my kidneys?
Accordion Plus Icon

Creatine is one of the most extensively studied supplements available, and the research consistently supports its safety. Reviews of the literature report that supplementation is safe and well tolerated in healthy people, including with long-term use, and find no evidence that it harms kidney function in healthy individuals. Because creatine can affect certain lab markers, and because individual health situations vary, anyone with a pre-existing kidney condition or other medical concern should check with their healthcare provider first.

Does creatine do anything for the brain or focus?
Accordion Plus Icon

Your brain is energy-hungry and uses creatine for energy the same way your muscles do, which is why researchers have been studying whether supplementing supports cognition. The honest answer is that the evidence is still emerging and mixed: some reviews suggest possible benefits for memory and mental performance — often most noticeable when the brain is stressed by fatigue or sleep loss — while others find limited or inconsistent effects, and no cognitive health claim has been formally approved. We think the potential is genuinely interesting, but we’d rather point you to what the research does and doesn’t yet show than overstate it.

Do vegetarians and vegans respond differently to creatine?
Accordion Plus Icon

Often, yes — and usually in a good way. Dietary creatine comes mainly from meat and fish, so people who eat little or none tend to start with lower muscle creatine stores. Because there’s more room to fill, vegetarians and vegans frequently show larger increases in muscle creatine when they supplement. If your diet is plant-based, a daily creatine dose is one of the more logical supplements to consider.
